Domestic refuge, control station, guardian of intimate space and home route.

“The word “abitacolo” has many meanings in Italian. It is the cockpit in a single-seater airplane for the pilot and his
controls and instruments. In cars or lorries it is the space for driver and passengers. In space-ships it is the space for the
space-man with all the necessary for living and navigation control. It is, in fact, habitable space reduced to the necessary
minimum. Figuratively speaking it is also an individuals intimate recess, the internal site of everything that goes to
make up his own world.”

The container space becomes for us an opportunity to experiment around the concept of the cabin, recovering its ancient meaning of dwelling and its subsequent declination in the naval field.
If on the one hand the cockpit takes on the meaning of refuge, be it domestic or interior, on the other hand it tells of travel and movement. In ancient ships, in fact, the cockpit contained the compass, taking on at the same time the role of guardian of the home route and guide in exploration.
